If you haven't heard of Radio Room, it's a fabulous event held at The Edison downtown and features some of the finest mixologists in the nation and their amazing cocktails. Now I know it’s not happy hour, but I thought such a wonderful event is definitely worth a write up.
Last night I attended Radio Room's Press Preview event and was able to try some of the delicious concoctions and chat it up with the men behind the bar.
Simon Ford of Pernod Ricard - London and New York City
Guiseppe Gonzalez of Dutch Kills & Painkiller - New York City
Zane Harris of Rob Roy - Seattle
Don Lee of Momofuku - New York City
Now, these gentlemen are known for making some killer cocktails, and Minty (my Downtown partner-in-crime) and I tasted all 6 offered. Yes, it was a hard job but we were up for the task. Although I enjoyed each drink I tried, Zane Harris’s Vieux Cerde (pictured below) was my pick of the night.

The Vieux Cerde was made with a 12 year old Irish Whiskey and VSOP Cognac with just a bit of Elisir M.P. Roux and bitters.
Another stand out drink of the night was Guiseppe's Wild Orchid. That gin cocktail was made with elderflower and a bit of red wine. Not only was it a well-made drink, but it was quite lovely to look it. I almost didn't want to stir it, feeling I would ruin it.
I was extremely glad I went and I hope to see you at the next Radio Room. It's the second Tuesday of each month.

I'm super confused about Simon's name. Everyone was calling him Aiden! On the bday cake at First & Hope, it said Aiden. ???
ReplyDeleteso you pay for the event and the drinks?
ReplyDeleteYes. It's a $10 cover to get in and there is also usually some type of entertainment.
