I'm not a fancy writer... just a girl that likes a good drink.

On March 15, BLT Steak debuted their new “5 at 5” happy hour menu. Starting at 5pm, you can choose from a list of 5 drinks and 5 small plates, each for just $5. The five drinks include two different wines, Prosseco, beer and one of their signature cocktails.

So recently I went to try their "5 at 5" with my friend, Amber. Since we were there to gab and gossip, we chose to sit their lounge area (pictured above). It was quite nice. The bartender came around and took our order of two Kentucky Side Cars, the signature drink on the happy hour menu. They were made perfectly! We wanted to get a second round, but unfortunately they ran out of a needed ingredient so we switched to wine and champagne.

As we sipped our drinks and had our girl talk, we sampled some of their small plates. We went with the Steak Sliders, the BBQ Short Rib Gnocco, and the Gruyere Mac and Cheese.  The sliders and the mac were about tied for my favorite, but I think the Mac and Cheese won. It was made with bacon and truffles. Ohhhhh sooo good! Other items on the happy hour menu include Crispy Fanny Bay Oysters with Fennel Slaw & Yuza Aioli and Braised Lamb Cheeks with Parmesan Polenta and Mint Chimichurri. I'll have to try those on my next visit.

As we ate, drank, and gabbed... the manager visited us a few times checking to see if we needed anything. Sometimes nice restaurants look at happy hour patrons a bit differently, but the manager, Sterling, couldn't have been nicer. Towards the end of the evening, we chatted with Sterling about the food and he introduced us to the chef, Brian Moyers. Chef Brian sat with us and was absolutely delightful. We talked with him about his menu and found out his favorite is the Mac and Cheese, too.

As we were finishing up, Amber mentioned that they have these amazing popovers that are complimentary. Seconds later, we waved down a server and requested some. For some reason, we weren't done yet. I heard that the Peanut Butter Chocolate Mousse was to die for, soooooo we ended with that.

Needless to say, we were stuffed. Our visit to BLT was definitely top notch. The only thing that could be improved on would be have a set server for the lounge area. Although it didn't make a huge impact on our night, we did have different people serving us throughout the evening but the manager did a fine job making up for it by checking in on us periodically. So definitely try BLT if you looking for a good happy hour in a nice, elegant setting.  It definitely gets my Vixen stamp of approval.
