Vixens' L.A. HAPPY HOURS: The Yard

If you are down at Santa Monica's Third Street Promenade and are looking for a good happy hour, The Yard is definitely one place you should try. The food is really good and the scene is fun. And if you're lucky, you might just get to meet their executive chef CJ Jacobson, from Bravo's Top Chef.

The Yard's happy hour is everyday 5-7pm with $3 beer, $5 wine and cocktails, and $5-6 small plates, and on Monday it goes ALL NIGHT!

I tried both happy hour cocktails: a Yard Cosmo and a Margarita. I liked the Margarita more. The Cosmo was a bit too sweet for me. I also tried the wines and those were good. Discounted well drinks would be a good addition.

But the food was the star of this happy hour. We've tried the Sliders, the Fish Tacos, and the Mini-Pulled Pork Sandwiches. All three were VERY good, but I think my favorite were the Fish Tacos. The fish was grilled rather than fried, and the sauce is delicious. You get two and they are quite large. I also liked the fried onion rings on the Pork Sandwiches. They gave it a good crunch.

Another thing I like about The Yard is that they have a big communal table in the center of the restaurant. Although you can usually find me at the bar, the communal table is great for socializing. I definitely like The Yard's happy hour. The food is really good and the prices are very reasonable for the quality of what you are getting. And every time I've gone to the The Yard, the bartenders have been very nice and friendly. Cheers to The Yard!

(By the way, their King Crab Mac and Cheese not on the HH menu, but you HAVE to try it . It's AMAZING!!)
