Seven Grand

If you haven't read it yet, my slogan is "I'm not a fancy writer, just a girl who likes a good drink." So someone recently asked me what do I value more... a good happy hour or a good drink?? Listen sweetie, if there aren't good drinks at a happy hour, it ain't a good happy hour. Plain and simple. What I usually look for in a happy hour are good drinks, good food, and good prices. But gosh darn it... sometimes you just want an amazing drink. That's when I go to Seven Grand.

Seven Grand doesn't have an amazing happy hour, but they have damn good drinks. Most cocktails run about $12 and during happy hour you get $2 off. The bar is a part of the Cedd Moses' collection of bars and almost all of them offer the same happy hour discount. It might not seem much of a deal, but I'm fine with paying $10 for a fabulous drink. Since Seven Grand doesn't serve food, we usually have happy hour food and drinks at some place like Drago Centro or Checkers and then make Seven Grand our second stop. And on Sundays and Mondays, happy hour is ALL NIGHT LONG!!

Seven Grand also offers $1 off beer and wine, but if you want beer and wine go somewhere else. Seven Grand is a whiskey bar. Two of my favorite drinks are the Sazerac and the Blood and Sand. The Sazerac is Rye Whiskey, Peychaud's bitters, and sugar served in a glass rinsed with Absinthe and a twist. The Blood and Sand is Grouse Scotch, fresh orange juice, Cherry Heering, and Dolin Sweet Vermouth. If you think you aren't a whiskey person, try the Blood and Sand. It's amazing.

During happy hour, the place can be sort of empty or pretty busy. I like it when it's kind of slow so I can sit at the bar and chat with the bartender. That's the best way to find out about the best drinks. The bartenders are always great. Seven Grand is definitely one of my favorite bars.
