I'm not a fancy writer... just a girl that likes a good drink.

Bokado - Studio City

For those who don't know me... I'm a Valley Girl. Yep!! The good 'ol SFV!  Now in L.A., there are many Valley-haters. Yeah, it's not Hollywood or Santa Monica, but we have a lot of nice bars and restaurants most people don't even know about. Bokado is one of them.

My first time at Bokado I went in for a quick bite, and unfortunately they didn't have a happy hour. I sat at the bar and had a Pinot Grigio and the Bikini de Jamon, a grilled cheese sandwich with Jamón Serrano, Fresh Mozzarella and Truffle Butter. Both were very good.

Since then, I have been back a few times and they now do have happy hour! Woohoo! They have changed their happy hour specials a couple times, but as of yesterday, their happy hour is now 25% off all food and drinks Monday - Friday 3-7pm.  I would've preferred 50% off, but it's still a nice little deal.

On my latest trip to Bokado, I went with a French Martini, which is normally $9 so during happy hour it came to $6.75.  The martini was superb, so I was very pleased with the price. My friend got a margarita and that came to $7.50. Also another good deal because it was well made. I've always been very impressed with their drinks.

As for food, we had the Mini Burgers, the Paella with assorted seafood, and the Bikini de Jamon. We asked for the Mini Burgers to be cooked medium rare. They were incredible… so juicy and flavorful. Now normally they run $9. I honestly wouldn't get them if it wasn’t happy hour because you only get two and they are pretty small. Even at the happy hour price of $6.75, I wouldn’t say it was a good deal but they sure were delicious. The paella came to $5.25 and the Bikini came to $4.50, and I thought those were pretty good deals.

 Mini Burgers - $6.75

 Seafood Paella - $5.25

Two great things about Bokado is that they have a large outdoor patio and a great firepit with a cozy seating area. Now happy hour may be a bit too early for some canoodling near the fire, so if I was on a hot date I would probably go later for dinner. I love happy hour, but making out with a cute boy beats happy hour any day!

So although Bokado's happy hour is only 25% off, you can still get some good deals. You should try it.
